Matt: Thank you.
Sam: How does it all feel? It happens pretty quickly for you.
Matt: It's great! I have some of the most amazing fans. It's really amazing. They, through my website mattdallas.com, they're able to e-mail me and write me. It's just insane. We get like thousands of e-mails from people. They're like loving the show and great response to it so it really feels great.
Sam: Okay, let's talk a little bit about the show. In the show - this is your second season now - you're a young man who stumbled out of the woods in Seattle with no memory and no belly button. Can we all relate to that?
(Clip from the Episode 2x15 airs: Kyle goes sit across from Jessi at The Rack.) I mean, does it happen to everybody at some point?
Matt (laughs): Wandering around naked and wondering how I get here? I don't know.
Sam: Why is the belly button attached to memory? Why did they have to get rid of the belly button?
Matt: It's all part of the big mystery.
Sam: We're still learning things about him, but people, in fact, do believe you do have a belly button or don't believe?
Matt: People often think I don't have one, but I assure that I do have one.
Sam: Matt has one. Kyle XY does not.
Matt: Yes.
Sam: Now I know that there's a writers' strike going on, but we got some good news: two successful seasons; you're picked up for a third.
Matt: Yeah, we're supposed to go back for our third season in the beginning of March. But it's actually nice to have this break to give me a lot of opportunity to take on other projects and stuffs like that, embrace lots of charity works. I was able to visit some children's hospitals and I'm starting to embrace a project of reaching out to autistic children and stuff like that.
Sam: That's awesome. You can do a lot by lending your name to some great causes and you have a little time to do that. Let's show a clip because in the show you're still learning a little bit about your supernatural powers, right?
Matt: Yes.
Sam: All right. Let's watch.
(Clip of levitation scene from Episode 2x15 airs:)
Kyle stands in the middle of the lawn with the sprinkler system going. He starts to levitate.
Voiceover: As Adam taught me, I was able to manipulate the polarity of the cells in my body, using my own water content against the water on the ground, like two magnets fighting to come together.
(Neighbor Mrs. Bloom sees Kyle from over the hedge.)
Mrs. Bloom: Kyle! (He lands on the lawn.)
Kyle: Beautiful day! (She is in shock, nods with her mouth open.) Spoke to Amanda yesterday. She's doing great!
Mrs. Bloom: Yes, yes, she is.
Kyle (waves his hand): Have a nice day!
(end of clip)
Sam: Have a nice day! Just stop by in the yard! (They each get each a bowl of cereals.) One of the things, I guess, this is connected somehow to your magical powers because Kyle likes to eat Sour Patch Kids with cereal.
Matt: He loves Sour Patch Kids. (Photo of Kyle eating Sour Patch Kids is displayed.)
Sam: All right, let's see if this is really possible, truth in television. You get a big bite. I'm going to get a big bite. Let's see who makes a sour face first. Ready?
Matt (He takes a big spoonful and chews.): Not bad. (Sam makes a sour face, his left hand pinching his sinus.) I'm used to it. (They set their bowls down on the table.)
Sam: Matt?
Matt: Serious.
Sam: But the point is it's not good. No, thank you so much. (He shakes hands with Matt.) Thank you so much for coming by. Ladies and gentlemen, Kyle XY.
(Audience of girls cheers.)
